Former La Pine resident, David Glenn Miltenberger of Portland, Oregon, passed away July 11, 2011, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

David was born April 19, 1951, in Bend, Oregon, to Glenn Howard and Pauline C. Miltenberger. He lived his first three years of his life in Madras, Oregon. Then the family moved to the Green Prairie Ranch in La Pine, Oregon, where his fathers roots were and where his parents wanted to raise their family. There he was involved with 4-H, raising market steers which he would sell at the Deschutes County Fair, eventually starting his own herd of registered Hereford cattle (which helped him pay for his college education). He attended school from grades 1 through 12 at Gilchrist High School. In high school, he lettered in track, graduating in 1969. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice skating, reading and baseball. One of the highlights of high school was when he got to skip school and go bird or elk hunting with his family for a week in Eastern Oregon. After high school, he went to Oregon State University (OSU), partly on a scholarship from Oregon Cattle Association and partly from selling his cattle that he raised, graduating in 1974 with a bachelors degree in Animal Science. While attending OSU, he was involved in the ROTC program. After college, he joined the US Army for a short period. After the Army he moved to Portland and attended Portland Bible College, receiving his bachelors degree in 1977. This is where he met his wife, Faith, and they got married on November 28, 1980.

David worked for Gilchrist Timber Company over the summers between 1969 and 1973, and for Precision Cast Parts for 16 years in Portland, as a Computer System Administrator, and concluded his work life in Marketing and running his own business. Davids biggest success could be seen in his love for his Lord, wife, children and family. He was a member of the Foursquare Church in Portland.

Survived by his wife, Faith, of Portland, and eight children, Joel, Rebecca, Ruth, Rachel, Josiah, Charity, Joshua and Jonathan; brother, Howard Donald Miltenberger of Crescent; sisters, Kathryn Marie Stace of Redmond, and Joice Sherri Lytle of La Pine; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
